Breastfeeding reflection

Breast milk is one of the most remarkable things my body has ever created, aside from my little Freya. As a nurse, we treat expressed breast milk as a blood product (well it is made from products found in your blood). You scan it, like as if it were a medication to be given. It's serious business. I remember women telling me that breastfeeding is hard. That there will be difficult times. And to set goals for myself: "I'll breastfeed for two weeks"- then once I reach that I can set my next goal: " I'll breastfeed for one month" and so forth. Because that way, I've been successful no matter how long. And they were right. It isn't easy, and there has and will be difficult times, but I'm setting goals and accomplishing them. And I love it. Freya and I are in this together, and I think we make a pretty good team.
